Sugar Cookies

This recipe can be found in the back of  Kroger sugar packs.  I had no idea that sugar cookies could be so good.

Ingredients

• 1/2 C shortening
• 1/2 C granulated sugar
• 1/2 C brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 3/4 C buttermilk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 C flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
•  

Topping

• 1/4 C sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
   

Cram together shortening, sugar, and brown sugar.  Mix in egg, then buttermilk and vanilla.  Combine the dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture.  Chill dough for 1 hour.  Drop mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls 2" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.  Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle on top of cookie dough.  Bake at 400 degrees F for 7 to 9 minutes or until set.  Makes around 3 dozen cookies.
