Creamy New Orleans Pralines
This is a traditional praline recipe straight from New Orleans. It's fairly simple, super sweet, and just delicious. You will need a candy thermometer in addition to the following ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp banilla
- 2 cups pecan halves
Combine sugars and milk. Place over low heat and stir until dissolved. Bring to boil. Lower heat and cook to 234 degrees. Remove from heat. Add butter, vanilla and cool to 200 without stirring. Add pecans and beat until creamy and until candy holds it's shape. Drop by large spoonfuls on buttered surface or wax paper.
