About UsMission & PurposeOur goal is to create an extensive database of recipes from a wide variety of cultures. This wiki’s purpose is to share recipes and good cooking information with classmates, friends, and family. Visitors to the wiki can submit their own recipes using the web form provided and access those that have already been added. Additionally, visitors can use this wiki as a portal to other healthful websites around the web…from nutritional information for your favorite restaurant to how to convert metric measurements to US measurements and back, how to calculate your daily caloric intake to finding other recipe databases, everyone should be able to find something of use at our goodcooking Wiki! We will continue adding recipes we enjoy, and we hope to receive recipe submissions and suggestions from guests.
Why this wiki was created
The Good Cooking wiki is a class project for Information Science 587 and was created as a compilation of each member’s favorite recipes, family recipes, those submitted by friends and other recipes from cookbooks, magazines and other publications. The recipes cover various regions of the United States in addition to other cultures around the world. See the project description for more information.

Recipe Selection
The recipes included are those from various nationalities and our favorite family recipes. When recipes are submitted by others their names and locations are listed, unless they wish to remain anonymous. If the recipe was taken from a magazine, cookbook, other printed or online source a Chicago style citation appears below the recipe. There is a simple web submission form for the wiki, which allows users to submit their own recipes. The submission is e-mailed to the wiki editor who then decides if the recipe will be added. Simple instructions appear above the form so that the submitter knows what is required. If a recipe has been added to the wiki, the submitter will receive an e-mail reply letting them know the link to the recipe(s) and thanking them for their submission.
Each recipe is tagged according to the main ingredients and type of recipe. A complete alphabetical list of tags can be viewed at the tags page.
